I was reading some sort of feminist blog that was saying that the TV series "Dollhouse" is horrible because it encourages rape and the whole premise of the show is that women are objects. As a feminist and as a rational human being, I disagree.
Firstly, the blog/website said that Sierra getting raped encouraged rape or something silly. I actually think it did the opposite. In the episode where Sierra gets raped by her handler (when she's in her doll-like state) she never says "no" because she can't. When his boss finds out about it, she has Sierra's handler killed. I mean, the episode basically was based on the premise that "just because a someone doesn't say no, doesn't mean they are saying yes". Which I think is a very good message, or at least an accurate one.
Secondly, a lot of the dolls in "Dollhouse" are men. And they get programmed to do the exact same kinds of things the female dolls are. For example Victor is programmed for some lady named Lonelyheart. Dollhouse is not about women, it's about people. I think that a big part of being a feminist is getting a life. Which these nut-jobs don't do.
Which leads me to my conclusion: I have yet to read a feminist blog online that makes any sense whatsoever. Also, it's 2am and I have nothing better to do than post my rants online defending my favorite TV shows.
HOWEVER, on an unrelated note, Eliza Dushku is extremely hot, but I want to make her eat a whole birthday cake, because I think she would be 10x more attractive if she would gain 5lbs. (and that's not the feminist in me talking, that's the horny half-dyke in me talking)
