"If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?"
---RuPaul
I always was annoyed when people would put stupid little "inspirational" quotes up in their house. But I think I'm going to write this on my mirror (with lipstick, of course). I always used to think loving yourself was arrogant and that if you didn't hate yourself, you'd never try to be a better person. But I've done the self-hatred thing for so many years now, and I think it could be the reason why I'm so easily annoyed and so quick to see the flaws in people and to point them out. I'm sick of hurting myself and I'm sick of pushing people away.
On a less somber note, RuPaul has said some other great stuff too:
"We all came into this world naked. The rest is all drag."
"Look at me--a big old black man under all of this makeup, and if I can look beautiful, so can you." (I actually don't think RuPaul is all that bad looking without makeup, though)
"All sins are forgiven once you start making a lot of money."
"...And don't fuck it up!"
